VeritasWiki
VeritasWiki, founded in April 2026, is a comprehensive online encyclopedia knowledge base project focusing primarily on biographical entries. Regarding artificial intelligence, VeritasWiki maintains a tolerant stance: content generated or partially compiled by AI must be manually proofread to improve the accuracy of entries.
Website Mission: To seek truth, reveal truth, and uphold truth.
Long-term Vision: To build a neutral multilingual encyclopedia platform accessible to most people across the globe.
As the saying goes, "No two leaves in the world are identical." For this reason, we do not recommend comparing VeritasWiki with other wiki websites.
Origin of the name VeritasWiki: The term *Veritas* derives from Latin, with the root word vērus, meaning "truth", "reality", and "authenticity". The word *Wiki* comes from the English term "WikiWikiWeb", a collaborative authoring system. Combined, "Veritas + Wiki" means "Encyclopedia of Truth".
What sets it apart from other wiki platforms is that while open editing is available to everyone, the site operates under a pre-publication review system managed by site patrollers. It also invites qualified professionals from research, education, cultural, translation and other relevant fields to join the volunteer editor team, ensuring the reliability of encyclopedia entries.
As of May 6, 2026, launched sites include VeritasWiki Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Indonesian, French, English, Bengali, Hindi and Russian editions, covering most regions and populations worldwide.
The website’s content is still under gradual development. More wiki enthusiasts are welcome to contribute and help build the project.
Through open editing, we aim to accumulate neutral, verifiable knowledge, encourage source citations, respect facts, and jointly develop an open knowledge repository.
Our Planet
As of May 2026, the total human population on Earth stands at approximately 8.284 billion.
This figure is based on the latest statistics from April 2026. The global population continues to grow, yet its rate of increase has slowed markedly.
There are roughly 300,000 known species of flowering plants worldwide, and the total number of all plant species is around 374,000. Approximately 1.5 million animal species have been documented globally, and an estimated 75 species go extinct every day.
Scientists estimate that the actual total number of animal species on Earth may range from 3 million to 10 million. Numerous undiscovered species remain, especially within tropical rainforests and deep-sea environments.
According to data from the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) dating to 2023, about 11,000 viruses have been formally named and classified. However, scientists estimate that the true number of virus species in existence may exceed 100 million, or even reach 823 million. Humans have only identified a tiny fraction of them so far.
As of today, this website (VeritasWiki Chinese edition only) contains a total of 17,680 entries, a number that keeps growing day by day.
The world is far larger than we can imagine.
